Sustainability

“You are not helping the planet, you are not helping nature, you are the planet, you are nature, you are helping yourself”
~ Bangambiki Habyarimana, The Great Pearl of Wisdom

Human activities have had a detrimental impact on our planet, and some activities have been more damaging than others. The printing industry, for example, has long been associated with environmental concerns due to its high consumption of resources, energy usage, and waste generation. Conventional printing techniques often require large quantities of paper, contributing to deforestation and habitat loss. Furthermore, producing and disposing of ink cartridges and other printing materials can release hazardous chemicals into the environment.

However, there are ways to reduce its adverse effects. One of these ways is to adopt sustainable printing practices: using sustainably sourced paper can ensure that forests are not destroyed. Additionally, vegetable-based inks can be used instead of traditional petroleum-based inks, which can reduce the amount of harmful chemicals released during the printing process. Overall, sustainable printing practices can help minimize the environmental footprint of printing operations.

Paper

The interior pages of JaggedLines magazine are printed on Lynx Opaque Ultra and made of 30% post-consumer recycled content. The paper is certified by SFI Fiber Sourcing Certified. All Lynx Opaque Paper is Forest Stewardship Council certified, SFI Certified, and Sourcing & Rainforest Alliance Certified.

JaggedLines is printed in the US through Strategic Factory, an eco-friendly print and fulfillment company, that upholds its commitment to environmentally responsible practices. Strategic Factory has relevant experience in minimizing environmental impact through soy-based ink, post-consumer paper options, waste recycling, and solar panels.

Packaging

From the start, JaggedLines was designed to be plastic-free. It is shipped without a poly bag in the US and with a recyclable cardboard mailer for the rest of the world.

Shipping

Our US fulfillment company  partners with USPS for sustainable shipping practices, reducing carbon footprint. USPS is committed to sustainable practices and reducing environmental impact through its USPS Blue Earth program. The USPS Blue Earth Program incorporates multiple environmentally friendly strategies, including energy-efficient operations, waste reduction, and alternative fuel vehicles. The main goal of this initiative is to reduce the carbon footprint of mail and package delivery. It aims to achieve this goal by optimizing transportation routes, enhancing recycling efforts, and implementing energy-saving practices in postal facilities. With this program, USPS showcases its commitment to environmental stewardship. Additionally, eco-conscious e-commerce businesses can now choose a more sustainable shipping option.

Even small steps can have a significant impact.
